Thomas F. Koernke

Tom graduated from Michigan State University as President of the Class of 1970 and graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1974. After clerking for Judge Anthony J. Celebrezze of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, he joined Warner, Norcross & Judd in Grand Rapids as a litigator.

During his distinguished career, Tom has co-authored a treatise called "Comparative Negligence in Michigan" for the Michigan Institute for Continuing Legal Education, has lectured at numerous legal seminars, and served a variety of bodies, including the national panel for Large and Complex Disputes for the American Arbitration Association and its Michigan panels for Construction and Commercial Disputes.

Tom is currently recognized as a leading expert in facilitated mediation, alternative dispute resolution, and a wide range of arbitration settings. He has also served on the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan’s Advisory Committee for its ADR Program since the Program’s inception in 1996.

 

 

Jeffery S. Crampton

Jeff graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Justice, Morality, and Constitutional Democracy. He graduated first in his class from the Detroit College of Law (now Michigan State University) and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review there, where he published an article entitled “Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics: Dispelling Some Myths Surrounding the United States Census”. He joined Varnum, Riddering, Schmidt & Howlett as a litigator, and developed a diversified litigation practice there.

Jeff is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and serves on the Representative Assembly of the State Bar of Michigan, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan organization. In addition, he served on the MSU-DCL Alumni Association Board of Directors, and he is the past president of the James Madison College Alumni Association.

He has published articles in the State Bar Journal, including “Do Standardized Field Sobriety Tests Reliably Predict Intoxication: Knowledge for Drunk Driving Litigation.”
and “Blood Alcohol: Understanding Quantitative Blood Alcohol Testing in Drunk Driving Cases”
